Nibbiola: the beautiful country

local name In western Lombardy, which is the dialect spoken in the community in almost all the province of Novara, is Nibiola (ni'bjɔla). The version in the handwriting of Piedmont, which is known in the rest of Piedmont, it is always Nibiola but pronounced ni'bjʊla.

Geography

Nibbiola is located about 10 km south of Novara, territory, although there is in the Po valley is not entirely flat, but characterized by small rises hills on one of which the village stands. In the area flowing stream and the stream Arbogna Ri.

The Castle was erected in 1198 by the then consuls of the town, the Graciano of San Vittore. It then went to different families of Novara and Milan (the Sforza, the della Porta, the Tornielli and Ponzone Ala). In the fifteenth century the fortifications were adapted to the times. Built in

Churches

The church of St. Victor was the first parish church the country. Santa Maria was built in the XVI century , bigger and also outside the country, with the adjoining cemetery to replace the old parish use.

The church of Saint Catherine of Alexandria was built in seventeenth century, in the town square, opposite the Castle. It replaced an ancient chapel dedicated to the same saint. It is the largest church, the style is baroque, the nave is unique and on it are grafted six side chapels, three on each side.
